During my morning walk today I saw a coyote cross the road in front of me. I was walking east on Spain Road and about 250 feet in front of me an adult coyote crossed from left to right. He had long, lanky legs and a long tail and looked gaunt—typical of the species. It was just after 7:00 am in the morning. When I got up to the point where he crossed I looked to my right and he was way down in the back of the property in a clearing but heading for the woods. The property is that grey single story rental property that has been vacant for some time. I noted the address across the street and it is 3788 Spain Road.
Last year I had the same thing happen while returning from my morning run. I was much closer to him on that sighting - probably 50 feet away. That occurred at the same time of the day around 7:00 am. That sighting was at 3584 Spain Road. I believe it was in May or June of 2004.
Anne and I have been hearing them at night form time to time but this is the first sighting we have had this year. We believe that some of the cats that have been posted as missing at the front of our subdivision could have been prey for coyote in the area. My daughter told us that there was a story on the local TV news about a month ago about coyote sightings in Snellville area.
